Christmas for Everyone

For nearly 20 years, Debbie and I have been involved with Christmas for Everyone (CFE).  This 35-year old non-profit organization has helped thousands of people in our community celebrate Christmas with their families.  These are often working families who do not have the extra resources for gifts or many times even a Christmas dinner. Last year, CFE served dinner to over 2,000 people. Due to COVID, we expect this year’s need to be bigger than ever before.  Corporate sponsors are feeling the “crunch” making every smaller donation even more important.

COVID has caused CFE to regroup and change the way they have done things in the past.  Here are the primary changes and how you can help:

  • CFE will not be serving dinners in person Christmas Day.  Instead, volunteers will package boxed dinners for families to pick up and take home.  Can you volunteer to prep and prepare food?
  • Volunteers will package and deliver Home Bound Meals to the elderly and those unable to leave their homes for various reasons.  Can you volunteer for this?
  • Families can come to the Light of Grace Korean Presbyterian Church in Martinez (distribution and work site) one week before Christmas to “shop” for gently-used clothing and coats.  Can you donate your gently-used clothing, sort clothing or assist when the families come to shop?
  • Can you donate new toys for children of all ages, donate cash for the food (desperately needed), purchase warm socks, coats, gloves or lap blankets?

Debbie and I will once again accept donations at our home and deliver those items to the Martinez distribution church.  Our address is:  252 Mountaire Pkwy, Clayton (Dana Hills).  Please leave your donations on our front porch or checks in one of our locked mailboxes.  Questions?  Contact Howard at:  (925) 323-4913.

The Light of Grace Korean Presbyterian Church is located at:  68 Morello Avenue, Martinez.  Starting December 7th, donations can be made Monday-Saturday between  11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  You may contact the CFE Director Mary Breshears-Perez at (925) 228-2233 to volunteer or get more information.

Checks should be made payable to Christmas for Everyone.  (Non-Profit #46-4947045)
